Dementia is a syndrome (a group of related symptoms) associated with an ongoing decline of brain functioning.
There are many different causes of dementia, and many different types.

memory loss
thinking speed
mental sharpness and quickness
language, such as using words incorrectly, or trouble speaking
understanding

Dementia UK is a national charity that aims to improve the quality of life for people with dementia. It offers advice and support to families who are living with dementia through its Admiral Nurses, who are registered nurses and dementia experts.

‘Young onset’ dementia is when symptoms develop before the age of 65, usually between 30 to 65 years of age.
